Admissions for the Academic Year 2021-22

Admission Procedure

We are an inclusive school and each application is considered on individual grounds. Students are placed as per their age on January 1st. We do not ‘retain’ or ‘accelerate’ students except under exceptional circumstances considering the child’s best interest.

How to Apply?

Admissions are open in June for the following September.

Step 1: Initial Application

Online Applications must be made through the online application form provided below. Admission department will respond to all applicants using the email provided with the application. Please ensure that your email address is correct and can receive email notifications from @talim.ca.

Special needs

We are unable to offer admission to children who are considered to have learning/behavioural difficulties as the school is unable to offer appropriate levels of support. It is important that full disclosure is made during the application process.

Step 2: Assessment & Evaluation

If your child’s initial application is successful, he/she will be invited to attend an entrance assessment. We endeavor to give at least one week notice. Should you choose to decline the invite, your application will not be processed further. All applicants for Grade 1 will go through individual assessment focusing on Literacy and Numeracy skills. Besides, the academic staff will also take into consideration, the child’s:

· Social skills appropriate to the child’s age

· Ability to comprehend and follow the instructions

· Readiness for the Elementary School

Due to the large number of applications received, if your application is unsuccessful, we are unable to provide individual feedback. Only successful candidates will be notified. The rest of the applicants will be kept on the waiting list. Being notified does not guarantee a place at AES. Prompt submission of the required documents and fee payment are the next steps.

Step 3: Documentation & Offer of a Place

Successful applicants will be receiving a formal offer of a tentative place. Coloured copies of the following documents should be provided along with the payment within one week of the offer to secure the place. After one week, the place will be offered to the next child on the waiting list and your application will not be reconsidered.

· Proof of Age (birth certificate, Canadian passport, Canadian Citizenship card or certificate)

· Passport Sized Photograph

· Proof of Address (Should be any two of the following current documents: Utility bill, Cable TV, internet, or home phone bill, Parents’ Driving License etc.)

· Proof of Immunization Record

· Proof of Residency Status

· A copy of child’s final report from the last academic year along with all interim reports issued during the year

· Reports on special needs (if applicable).
