INTRODUCTION
Career Guidance Program for Ta’lim Secretaries: 2025-2028
This program guides high school students toward higher education and distinguished service careers, in line with the guidance of the Promised Messiah (as) and Khulafa. Career guidance will be the primary focus of the Ta`lim Department for this term
CAREER WEBINARS
The National Ta`lim Department will provide resources including career guides, mentors, scholarship information, one-to-one guidance sessions, presentation and other materials for local events and any help that the local secretaries may need
The local secretaries will ensure the following activities are conducted in their jama’at:
- Host at least one seminar every three months using program materials provided by the National Ta`lim Department. Please see a draft agenda at the end of this document
- Arrange local speakers (male or female) or request speaker recommendations from the National Ta`lim Department
- Target 50% attendance of high school students (both male and female)
- A career guidance talk/presentation at Ijlas Aam or local Jalsa will also count as a seminar
- Seminars to be conducted in-person. If holding an in-person seminar is not possible please seek approval from National Ta`lim Department to hold an online session
A substantial number of families have immigrated to Canada through several different programs over the last two years. Many of these families include students of different ages
- Local Secretaries should compile a database of all such recent immigrant students, from families who have arrived in Canada in 2024 and 2025
- Reach out to students and their parents to check if the students are enrolled in the appropriate programs
- Identify any immigrant students who are not continuing their education, report to the National Tali`m team immediately
- Ensure all recent immigrant students are aware of the resources available for them on the Tali’m website
Ensure maximum student participation in career guidance webinars hosted by the National Ta`lim Department
Inform all high school students about career guidance, counseling, and resources offered by the National Ta’lim Department and send reminders quarterly. These resources are available at talim.ca and amjstudentservices.ca
Meet with each male high school student and their father at least once annually. Can be an annual student event at the mosque or individual meeting at their home
Keep updated database of all high school and university students
